Savatkada Waterfalls - Hidden Gems of Sahyadri
Savatakada Waterfalls, also known as Saatkada Waterfalls, are the hidden gems of the Sahyadri mountain range, located on the border of the Khedge, Nitawade, Donwade, and Yerandape villages of Bhudargad taluk, Kolhapur district, Maharashtra state, India. Here you get to see 7 beautiful waterfalls in a dense forest of the Sahyadri. These seven waterfalls are collectively called the Savatakada Waterfalls, or Saatkada Waterfalls, or Khedge-Nitawade Waterfalls.

Here you will see seven beautiful waterfalls like Savatkada Waterfalls, Bhivashiva Kond Waterfalls, Mahakaya Waterfalls, Dukkarkada Waterfalls, Bhimkaya Waterfalls, Jambulkada Waterfalls, and Mandapikada Waterfalls. Along with this, you also get to see a beautiful Teakwood forest at the end🌳. These waterfalls are located at a distance of 72 kilometers from Kolhapur city, surrounded by dense forests, small villages, and natural beauty. Our journey begins from the lush green valleys of the Sahyadri. If you like adventure and relaxation, then this journey is for you.

There are two entrance gates to explore the Savatkada waterfalls series, namely the Nitawade entrance gate and the Khedge entrance gate. We recommend that you avoid the Nitawade entrance gate because there is no good road here. It is a mud-filled road, and if you are coming with family and kids then there are more chances of you skidding. Instead you can explore Savatkada waterfalls from Khedge entrance gate. There is a good road to reach Khedge village which passes through a dense forest. You have to take a right turn before Khedge village. You will see signboards in between. Follow them. Otherwise take the help of Google map. You can also see beautiful rice fields on the roadside.

From the Khedge Entrance Gate you can see not one, not two, but a total of 7 waterfalls. This is a very large series of waterfalls. Such waterfalls leave their unique mark on nature. Here you have to pay 20 rupees as an entry ticket and also have to pay 30 rupees separately for car parking.

There is a signboard next to the Khedge Entrance Gate which gives information about which waterfall is at what distance. Follow such signboards and move ahead. The Forest Department of Kolhapur and the local Village Authorities developed this place recently. Signboards have been installed, and steps have been built here for walking. Please give one like for their good work.

First of all we will see Savatakada Waterfalls. We will move ahead after seeing it. While going you will see many beautiful flowers. Be very cautious while walking here. Because many snakes are seen in this forest. Like Green Pit Vipers. Savatakada Waterfalls is the first waterfall here. This waterfall is located at a distance of 260 meters from Khedge entry gate and 1450 meters from Nitawade entry gate.

“A true paradise, where water falls down from the rocks and creates a refreshing misty atmosphere all around. Coming here gives peace to the mind and solace to the eyes.”

Now we move towards the next beautiful waterfall – that is Bhivashiva Kond Waterfalls. It is located at a distance of 240 meters from here. Follow the signboard to reach all the waterfalls. It is a total walk of 1.5 kilometers. There is also a changing room and bathroom facility for tourists here. If you take a right turn from this point, you get to see the remaining 6 waterfalls. After seeing them, you have to come back from the same route.

If it rains heavily, the way to go here gets closed. Therefore, a big bridge has been built here. From above this, you can see Mahakay Waterfalls.

This is the beautiful – Mahakay waterfall. Here the water flows between the rocks and creates a beautiful view. The view of greenery and mountains all around makes it even more special.

Now we move towards the next beautiful waterfall – that is Dukkarkada Waterfalls. Dukkarkada Waterfalls is located at a distance of only 200 meters from Mahakay waterfall. One has to climb a little mountain here. Here the rain water from the mountains falls down from big rocks.

Now we move towards the next beautiful waterfall – that is Bhimkay Waterfalls. Bhimkay Waterfalls is located at a distance of just 100 meters from Dukkarkada Waterfalls. Jambulakada waterfall is located in a peaceful place in the middle of the forest. Here, only the sound of birds and animals can be heard from a distance. Coming here calms the mind.

Now we move towards the last beautiful waterfall – that is Mandapikada Waterfalls. Mandapikada Waterfall is located at a distance of just 140 meters from Jambulakada Waterfall. Mandapikada waterfall is located between big rocks in a dense forest. This is the last waterfall of the Khedge-Nitawade waterfalls series.

Now we will move towards the teakwood forest. We have to go back by the same route by which we came. After going to the washroom point, you see this small bridge. The teakwood forest is located just 100 meters from here. If you come from the Nitawade Entry Gate, then the first thing you see is the teakwood forest.

The rainy season is the best time to visit the Savatkada waterfalls. Because all the waterfalls here are dependent on rain. So you should come here only in the monsoon. Wear shoes while coming.
