The biggest specialty of the Sagareshwar Wildlife Sanctuary is that it is India’s first manmade wildlife sanctuary and Maharashtra’s one & only manmade wildlife Sanctuary. Here big forest has been artificially developed under the afforestation programs with the help of the local villagers and Vrikshamitra (Friend of Trees) D M Mohite. This forest has been cultivated without a perennial supply of water. It’s really a great work. Because it is not easy to cultivate an artificial forest. All the animals and birds you see in this Sagareshwar Wildlife Sanctuary have been artificially introduced here. This means wild animals from other places have been brought here and released. This Sagareshwar wildlife sanctuary is the manmade artificial wildlife Sanctuary. But it is not less than any natural wildlife Sanctuary.
